There are too many Pietas in the world today.
Well written, covers a subject I know nothing about but realize that it’s good to be aware of how I am with others…especially waiters. I tend to fall between something of an arrogant prick and a really nice guy when it comes to restaurants and waiters. I’m not quite sure why I’m like that, come to think of it. I guess it depends on the weather, what I’m wearing, who I’m with and what time of day it is.
Which brings me to tonight…
I had dinner with an old friend tonight. And in the interest of Truth, I spoke earnestly. I was more honest tonight than I can remember being in a very long time. And my friend listened, called me a fucking idiot…and stayed my friend.
Impulses are easy. Your body says ‘go’ and you go. It takes no thought, no consideration…nothing. Truth requires insight and time and making something worthwhile.
He asked me, “What are you doing tonight? What are you doing tomorrow? This isn’t something to put off until later. This is something to start now…with yourself. This isn’t something you can forget. You can’t forget this.”
Look in the mirror. Do what’s right. To thine ownself…
